This week, I did less helping on teams due to the hurricane; teams didn’t need a lot of help. Instead, I spent most of this week working on myself. I applied to a few jobs, updated my resume, and updated my Demo Reel. I need to figure out a new intro, but that’s in the works for the time being.
I added new music, which may change but help set the mood for my work. I made the beginning of the reel more presentable. I added more shots to my reel, removed the generalist, and just made it Lighting | Look, Dev. I also went back to the first collaboration class I did and re-rendered the shot out of Nuke to remove H. 254 compression.
I also spent some time this week trying to grow my network. I’m now on Lightworq, a community for VFX artists. It’s not really big at the moment, but that’s a good thing. I’m more likely to grow my network somewhere small than somewhere big, where I can be quickly drowned out.
I also spent a little time trying to figure out rates and what I could extect to make. My hope for a rate would be 325-400 per day and hourly 40-50 dollars an hour in NY.

I’m also curerntly going through all the action VFX footage to see if i wanna use anything for my own project.
